New dental care rules taking effect in Illinois
Goal is to improve children's teeth
Parent Crystal Aubuschon knows the value of good dental work from what she didn't get.
Aubuschon still has the remnants of childhood braces improperly removed from her teeth. She said her teeth have been in poor shape since childhood, and she has insisted on better dental care for her three sons.
So Aubuschon is in favor of the new state law requiring that all children in kindergarten, second- and sixth-grades get a dental exam. The deadline to get the dental exam or schedule one is May 15.
"My kids need to have decent, beautiful teeth," she said. "I don't want them wearing dentures by the time they're 12."
